(Oklahoma City-AP) -- James E. Edmondson has become the newest Oklahoma Supreme Court Justice.

He shed his job as a Muskogee judge Friday and took on the responsibilities of a new court.

Edmondson is the brother of state Attorney General Drew Edmondson and the son of the late US Representative Ed Edmondson.

James Edmondson's formal swearing in will be at 2:30 p-m January 14th at the state Capitol.

He will participate in the court's first judicial conference of the year Monday.

Chief Justice Joseph M. Watt says Supreme Court justices earn about $106,000 a year.
