(Ada-AP) -- Ada residents have sent more than 14,000 protest letters to the Oklahoma Water Resources Board.
Ray Lokey, spokesman for the Citizens for the Protection of the Arbuckle-Simpson Aquifer says the letters are protesting temporary water rights applications that could lead to the transfer of water from the Ada area to the Yukon, Mustang, Chickasha and Piedmont.
The cities are proposing building an 88-mile pipeline from the aquifer to the cites to meet increased federal water quality standards that take effect in 2006.
