(Atlanta-AP) -- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is activating its emergency operations center and response teams to help states with the flu outbreak, including Oklahoma.
Government medical experts say the flu has now hit 36 states with only the upper Midwest and a few Eastern states not affected yet.
In Oklahoma there have been at least seven confirmed flu-related deaths. State health officials are investigating other deaths that may be flu-related, including the deaths of children.
The CDC is preparing to post new information on its Web site for health workers, telling how to properly prioritize patients with possible flu symptoms.
