The rate of alcohol-related traffic deaths is going down in Oklahoma. But alcohol still plays a role in more than a third of all fatalities on state roads.
The latest figures show alcohol related traffic deaths fell 73% between 1982 and 2002. Only four other states had bigger declines during the 20-year period.
Nationwide, the figure stands at 63%.
