There could soon be a change in property taxes for senior citizens. Several lawmakers propose making it easier for older Oklahomans to qualify for a freeze on their property taxes.
Right now a home's assessed value can't be increased if the homeowner is 65 or older and has a household income of $25,000 a year or less. A new proposal would raise the income level.
The Oklahoma Education Association says it will oppose any change that will take money away from underfunded schools.
