Creek County's new jail hit a milestone Monday with the installation of new cells that were delivered on a truck and lifted into place.
The new jail will have 64 of the metal boxes, each about 8 feet by 10 feet, with a combination toilet-sink and two metal bunks. They're made of steel and tested to make sure they're tougher than the inmates.
Bill Knesek with Sweeper Metal Fabricators: "We beat on them all kinds of ways force them through pressure test to simulate things that will happen in a live facility."
The county's current jail was built in 1973. It's underground and chronically overcrowded. It’s currently housing murder suspect Scott Eizember.
