An Oklahoma State University professor has found traces of avian flu in Stillwater's water supply.

The virus can be transferred through the droppings of some waterfowl. So far, doctors have found only small traces of the virus in Stillwater's drinking water, probably not enough to cause any disease.

City leaders say the water supply meets all state and federal regulations. Most water treatment plants can eliminate bacteria in the water.

But researchers say they don't necessarily filter out viruses.
