(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Governor Brad Henry and state lawmakers are supporting a plan to spend $34-million for better pay to health care officials who provide care to Medicaid patients.

The money is part of $71-million in one-time funding from the federal government to help support the state's Medicaid program.

Henry says paying doctors and other Medicaid providers more for their services will help thousands of Medicaid patients who have trouble getting health care.

The Oklahoma Health Care Authority says the extra money will pay for the rate increases for 18 months.
