The sluggish economy continues to take a toll on Green Country. In Claremore, eight city workers, including six firefighters, have been laid off.

Claremore City Manager Mark Rounds says eleven other city positions were eliminated. Those employees transferred to other city jobs.

The cut in firefighters may cause one of the city's fire stations to close. It will be up to Claremore's Fire Chief to decide.
