OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma running back Renaldo Works was named to the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame's 2003 National Scholar-Athlete class, officials announced Wednesday.
Works, of Tulsa, Okla., is a senior majoring in management at OU. He was among eight NCAA Division I athletes named to the list who have a grade point average of 3.7.
Two players each named in Division I-AA, Division II and Division III also had 3.7 GPAs, as did a NAIA team member.
Nominees have to be a senior or graduate student in his final year of eligibility and have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
The athlete also must show superior academic application and performance, have outstanding football ability as a first-team player and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.
