The Tulsa Police Department is taking action to make sure citizens understand the consent decree recently agreed upon.

A public education plan is part of the decree, which establishes new standards on how business gets done at TPD. Tulsa Police Deputy Chief Bob Busby, "and the community, in becoming more aware of what the police does, will be more receptive to the way we do business.”

The department formed a committee that will handle public education. Aside from TV and radio, the department will take its education message to schools, community meetings, as well as create brochures and even a web site.
