(Tulsa-AP) -- Tulsa coach Steve Kragthrope says his team is starting to expect to win.
The Golden Hurricane's 35-to-16 victory over Southern Methodist on Saturday has lifted a program dogged by eleven straight losing seasons. Tulsa is now 4-and-4 overall, 2-and-2 in the Western Athletic Conference.
James Kilian threw for 177 yards and five touchdowns against the Mustangs. That hasn't been done in Tulsa since Gus Frerotte threw for six touchdowns against East Carolina in 1993.
It was the Golden Hurricane's first time to beat SMU after seven straight series losses.
Kilian says he and his teammates have been expecting to win every game they've played. But he says the team got a boost by the way the Golden Hurricane overcame SMU's early 7-to-0 lead.
