(Washington-AP) -- At least two Wal-Marts in Oklahoma are among the 61 nationwide where federal officials arrested more than 300 alleged illegal immigrants.
Federal officials say a Wal-Mart Supercenter in Oklahoma City and a Wal-Mart in Edmond are among those where the arrests were made.
A spokeswoman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Dallas says ten people were arrested in Oklahoma.
Government agents made arrests at Wal-Mart stores in 21 states early today. Officials also searched the Arkansas office of a Wal-Mart executive.
Wal-Mart spokeswoman Mona Williams says the workers were all on cleaning crews hired by outside contractors, not Wal-Mart associates.
Any employer who knowingly hires illegal immigrants can face civil or criminal penalties.
