A man arrested in Sapulpa last week for a murder in Louisiana is free. Ernest Harper was taken into custody for the 1974 death of his wife.
Louisiana authorities want him extradited to face second-degree murder charges. But a legal technicality forced Oklahoma to let him go.
In 1976 Harper was handed the death sentence for killing his girlfriend and her daughter in Tulsa. The sentence was later modified to life in prison and he was released in 1990.
