(McAlester-AP) -- McAlester Public Schools is going tobacco free.
The school board has approved a policy prohibiting tobacco on campus at any time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
School Superintendent Lucy Smith says the board has been considering extending the current tobacco ban for more than a year. The current ban prohibits tobacco on campus between 7 a-m and 4 p-m.
Smith says the new policy will be phased in during the next few weeks
