Things are looking up for Tulsa based Great Plains Airlines. It starts flying to Washington DC, via St Louis Tuesday.
News on 6 reporter Emory Bryan joined a planeload of Tulsa officials and airline executives Monday for a preview flight to St Louis.
The flight highlighted the expanded service, which the airline says is the cheapest and fastest way to DC. Great Plains has never turned a profit, but CEO David Johnson believes that will change soon. "We're still interested in other coastal destinations and ultimately we hope to provide direct non stop service from Oklahoma to east and west coast."
Great Plains now serves 7 airports and will add more destinations soon. The new flights to St Louis were announced shortly after American Airlines decided to drop service from Tulsa and Oklahoma City to St Louis.
