Metal thunder is rolling through Oklahoma Monday. Thousands of motorcyclists are riding the historic Trail of Tears.

The event marks the forced relocation of Native Americans during the middle 1800â€™s, most of whom were Cherokee who ended up in Tahlequah area. Many died during the march because of the brutal conditions.

The National Park Service recognized the route as an official trail in 1996.
