(Oklahoma City-AP) -- More than 600 students at the state's two largest school districts are seeking transfers from low performing schools.
In Tulsa, 579 elementary and middle school students have been confirmed for transfers. In Oklahoma City, 65 students have made a similar request.
The transfers come a month after state schools Superintendent Sandy Garrett announced 48 Oklahoma schools made a federal ``needs improvement'' list. Most were based on low test scores.
Parents can transfer their children to nearby sites within the district if an alternate school is available.
The Tulsa and Oklahoma City school districts each had eleven schools on the list.
