Visteon reaches agreement with UAW

Hundreds of Tulsa workers are breathing a sigh of relief. Ford Motor Company and auto supplier Visteon Corporation have reached a contract agreement with the United Auto Workers Union.

The agreement covers 200,000 Ford workers and retirees and comes just one day after the UAW reached an agreement with Chrysler. Terms of the Ford deal have not been released, but company management says it's a historic event. Bill Ford, Chairman and CEO, Ford Motor Company: "This was quite a very brave and unprecedented move that Ron undertook to have simultaneous bargaining and I think it says a lot about the relationship that we built up over the years and the trust that's been built up."

General Motors is now the only Big 3 automaker still in labor talks with the UAW.

Visteon employs 800 people at its plant in east Tulsa.
