(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A federal public defender says she doesn't think Michigan native Terry Nichols can get a fair trial in Oklahoma for his role in the 1995 bombing that killed 168 people.

Susan Otto testified Friday at a hearing to determine whether Nichols' trial should be moved out of state.

She said telephone callers to her office have said death is the only appropriate sentence for Lapeer native Nichols.

The 48-year-old Nichols is already serving life in prison for conspiracy and involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of eight federal agents killed in the bombing.

State prosecutors in Oklahoma have charged him with murder in the deaths of 160 others killed. They're seeking the death penalty.

Bombing co-conspirator Timothy McVeigh was executed in June 2001.
