A warning about a new scam targeting people who want to sign up for the national ‘Do Not Call’ list.
SBC says the scam is quickly making its way across the state. The phone company says if you receive a call from someone claiming to be a representative, don’t give them your personal information.
Andy Morgan, Oklahoma SBC spokesperson, "SBC doesn't maintain or check participation in the or check participating in the national "Do Not Call" list. That's done by the Federal Trade Commission. And, the other thing is, we would never ask for a full social security number or credit card information."
If you think you might be a victim, contact the Federal Trade Commission at 1-877-ID-THEFT.
