(Tulsa, Oklahoma-AP) -- As many as 300 people are without jobs after a Tulsa, Oklahoma, distribution center formerly owned by Fleming Companies closed.
Oklahoma Employment Security Commission officials confirmed Thursday that the center is closed.
Reports indicate the workers were laid off Saturday, the day Lewisville,Texas,-based Fleming sold the center to Associated Wholesale Grocers of Kansas City.
OESC spokesman John Carpenter says Fleming sent the commission a letter July 10th stating its intention to sell the center. The letter said the buyer would close the facility.
Carpenter says workers will be paid through September 10th.
Fleming filed Chapter Eleven bankruptcy in April after Kmart, its largest customer, filed for bankruptcy and closed hundreds of stores.
