(Norman-AP) -- University of Oklahoma regents have approved the sale of more than 500 acres of property to ensure the $67-million National Weather Center being built on campus has full funding.

The center is being funded with federal, state and school funds.

The sale of the stretch along Interstate 35 will bring in $13.3-million.

The buyer is the OU Foundation, and the university will benefit from any future profits from development.

The land is just west of the Max Westheimer Airport.
