Tulsa Talons fans had reason to celebrate Monday. Tulsa Mayor Bill LaFortune: "Therefore, I, Bill LaFortune, mayor of the city of Tulsa, do hereby proclaim today, August 25th, 2003, as Tulsa Talons Day in the city of Tulsa."
The Talons won the arena football 2 championship over the weekend. Mayor LaFortune was one of the speakers at Monday's victory party in downtown Tulsa.
The Talons beat the Macon Knights 58 to 40 Saturday night in front of their biggest home crowd ever.
