For the second straight day, a fatal accident ties up traffic on 46th Street North near the Port of Catoosa. It happened just before 7 AM.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say a driver in an eastbound car tried to pass a minivan in a no-passing zone and was hit by a semi-truck head-on. The car was then thrown into the mini-van, killing the driver. Troopers say the fact this is the second fatal accident in as many days is a pure coincidence.
Trooper Ron Hamilton, "It's not really an unsafe road. You've got 24-foot roadway, wide shoulders. If people would drive with care we wouldn't have these problems."
There were no other injuries and the victim's name has not been released.
