More than 1,000 former Commercial Financial Services employees will have a belated payday from the company.
A group of employees laid off in early 1999 sued the company, saying CFS violated federal standards for giving notice before cutting jobs. Rules say there must be a 60-day notice of a mass layoff, but the employees say they were given less than a month.
A $2.6-million settlement will be split among attorney's fees and those former employees.
