An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper, injured in a wreck on the Turner Turnpike, has been upgraded to serious condition.

Trooper Shawn Griffey was airlifted to St Francis Hospital for emergency surgery after Friday's accident. The official investigation is on going, but it appears Griffey was attempting to make a U-turn at a "cut-through" and was hit by a semi truck.

The driver of the semi was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
