(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The state Labor Department says its 105 employees will be furloughed beginning Friday because of budget concerns.
Officials say the agency's general revenue budget was cut by nearly a third this fiscal year. Labor Commissioner Brenda Reneau Wynn says employees were notified of possible furloughs last week.
Reneau Wynn says the furloughs will not interfere with scheduled amusement ride inspections and onsite surveillance for state fairs in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
Furloughs will be scheduled thru June 30th, 2004. Additional furlough days will be added if needed.
The agency has reduced its staff from 123 to 105 to cut costs. The department also has delayed planned promotions, merged two divisions and stopped using temporary employees.
