(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Scientists hope a federally funded research grant will help end the debate over the success of cloud seeding.
Oklahoma will start up its cloud seeding program again next spring and conduct research to answer the question of whether cloud seeding really works.
Oklahoma stopped cloud seeding in 2001 when the program ran out of money.
A federal grant will start up the program and allow scientists to measure rainfall from unseeded clouds and seeded clouds.
Oklahoma will share the grant money with Texas. Cloud seeding is expected to start in the spring in western Oklahoma.
