Straight-line winds of more than 70 miles per hour were reported with hail measured at one-and-three-quarter inches.
Washington County Emergency Management officials say electricity is out to about one-third of the county and may remain out well into the day.
Numerous roads in the county are impassable because of the downed trees and power lines.
