(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Derek Freeman has been tapped as the new head coach of the women's golf team at Oklahoma City University.
Freeman was an assistant coach for both the men's and women's golf teams last year.
Athletic director Jim Abbott says that in addition to his new duties, Freeman will oversee the women's junior varsity squad this fall.
Freeman was graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1994. He captained the men's golf team in his sophomore, junior and senior years at OU. In high school, Freeman played golf at Edmond Memorial High School.
Freeman played on the Canadian Tour, the Hooters Tour and several Nike Tour events after he left OU.
