TISHOMINGO, Okla. (AP) _ An Ardmore police officer shot and killed a Tishimingo man when he emerged from a home after a more than three-hour armed standoff, authorities said.
Roy Lee White, 52, was shot shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday by the officer acting as a spotter for a SWAT team when he saw White point a rifle at officers, said Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations spokeswoman Jessica Brown.
``As the Ardmore SWAT team was advancing on the home, the spotter saw the man was aiming his rifle at the officers,'' Brown said.
``The spotter shot and killed him.''
The name of the officer who fire the shot was not released.
The Ardmore officers were called because White had threatened to take his life and several shots were fired inside and outside the home during the incident, but none of the shots were fired at officers, police said.
The standoff began about 2:45 p.m. Thursday when White barricaded himself inside the home after Tishimingo police arrived in response to a domestic disturbance call.
