(Tulsa-AP) -- A federal judge has given her approval to the city of Tulsa's settlement with Arkansas' poultry industry over drinking water.
US District Judge Claire Eagan approved the agreement Wednesday between Tulsa and six poultry companies. The city also reached terms with the city of Decatur, Arkansas.
The city blamed the poultry firms' handling of poultry waste for a bad taste and odor in its water supply.
The agreement places limitations on the land application of poultry waste within the affected watershed.
The city originally sought the reimbursement of about $4-million it has spent since 1997 investigating and treating the water problems.
