(Lanagan, Missouri-AP) -- A fire has destroyed Ginger Blue Resort, once a luxurious inn and restaurant that drew visitors to southwest Missouri. Now it's being investigated as suspicious.
Fire Chief John Divine says the fire was discovered Sunday evening at the two-story resort, built on a bluff on the Elk River, near Lanagan, Missouri.
Divine says it was the third fire at the property this year. The two earlier fires also were considered suspicious, but investigators have not pinpointed a cause. The resort had been closed for years. Divine says it had boards over several windows, and no electric or gas service.
A Kansas City railroad executive opened the resort in 1915. Officials say it drew tourists from across the country until it closed in the early 1990s.
