Investigators are looking into a homicide in Eufaula. The brother of former Oklahoma Congressman JC Watts is under arrest after turning himself into police.
News on 6 reporter Heather Johnson is in McIntosh County and says state investigators are gathering evidence at the scene of the shooting.
The victim was found shot to death outside Watt's BBQ Restaurant. Authorities say he is 50-year-old Anthony Allen Greco. He had apparently been working for Lawrence Watts, the owner of this restaurant for about a week in a manual labor business.
Investigators say 53-year-old Watts turned himself in around 10:30 Wednesday morning, saying he had shot a man. No charges have been filed. At this point, McIntosh County District Attorney Greg Stidham says he doesn't have sufficient information to charge Watts with anything.
That decision will come when state investigators complete their report on the crime scene. The DA, who personally has known Watts for years, say the whole incident is very surprising. The DA says charges could range from 1st degree murder to self-defense.
Watts is being held, based on his own statement, at the McIntosh County jail. Stidham says the fact that Watts is the brother of former Oklahoma congressman JC Watts won't be a factor in the investigation.
