The Tulsa city council approved a budget for the new fiscal year, which begins on July 1st.
But in many cases, it's a budget few approve of. Many city employees are upset because they're taking a 2% pay cut. That’s on top of the 2.7% cut they already took.
It may not sound like a lot, but workers like Beau McElhattan say they don't "make" a lot. For example, he takes home less than $25,000 a year. "A lot of us are struggling at the moment anyway, and any little bit is going to impact you a whole lot."
The city council, which also took a pay cut, tells workers that they sympathize, but they don't see any way to avoid the situation right now.
They also warn Tulsa citizens to expect a decline in services.
