US Senator Don Nickles says he supports relocating residents in the towns surrounding the Tar Creek Superfund site.
Nickles told The Sunday Oklahoman that he's working some proposals for the federal buyout program, but he's not ready to make it public.
Nickles says he's not closed to the idea of a buyout.
The U-S Environmental Protection Agency has spent about $100-million trying to clean up the 40-square-mile area.
Children in the area have had high levels of lead in their blood.
Nickles says a lot of money has been spent in the area and with little results.
