(Sacramento, California-AP) -- An Oklahoma athlete has advanced in the NCAA Track and Field championship.

Aldwyn Sappleton ran a career-best time in the 800 meter and advances to Saturday's final.

LaVerne Jones advanced to Thursday night's semifinal in the 200 by finishing second in her heat Thursday morning, but fell short of advancing to the final.
