McALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- A former secretary for the McAlester Public Schools athletic department has pleaded guilty to embezzling $23,974 from the school system and has been given a suspended sentence.
Leticia Marie Tristan, 34, was ordered to pay back the embezzled money as well as $916 in court costs.
Tristan handled money and made bank deposits of athletic department funds. An audit revealed a shortage in these funds.
