(Sapulpa-AP) -- A second day of jury deliberations begins today in Sapulpa in the trial of a Bristow man accused of killing a 21-month-old girl.

Kurt Vomberg Jr. is charged with first-degree murder for the March 2000 beating death of Skyla Brooks, the daughter of his girlfriend.

Prosecutors are seeking life without parole for Vomberg.

Defense attorneys blame the child's death on her mother, Tammy Brooks, who is serving a 20-year sentence for child neglect in the case.
