What began as a routine traffic stop ended with one man shot. An Osage County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over a car for speeding Friday afternoon near the 3600 Block of West 43rd Street North.
He recognized the driver and passenger as having warrants and ordered them out of the car. They got out, but the deputy says the passenger then jumped into the drivers seat and tried to speed away, nearly hitting him.
The sheriff’s deputy also says he thought the man was reaching for a gun under the seat, so he fired a shot, hitting the man in the shoulder.
The device under the seat turned out not to be a gun. Both men were taken into custody.
