The words got tougher Thursday as the National Spelling Bee in Washington DC wrapped up. The event started with 251 kids.

Both Oklahoma contestants were knocked out. Nabeel Shakir of Oklahoma City was knocked out in round 5 with the word ‘filipendulous.’

Caleb Cassidy of Stillwater was knocked out in the 2nd round during the written test.
