As the violence in the Middle East continues, some folks here at home are helping out with humanitarian efforts in Iraq.
The First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow has teamed up with Tulsa's First Baptist Church to prepare food shipments for Iraqi families. Each 70-pound box holds enough food to feed a family of five, for one month.
The folks at Tulsa's First Baptist Church say they're glad they can help. Matt Beaver: "Our congregation is about 1,500 regular attendees. So our goal was to get enough food for one person - to match our people for a month. So when we met that goal, it was great."
The boxes will be shipped Tuesday, along with others from all over the country. They're expected to arrive in Iraq sometime in June or July.
