(Tulsa-AP) -- A spokesman for Senator Jim Inhofe says the senator disagrees with Congressman Brad Carson on cleanup of the Tar Creek Superfund site.
Jared Young says Inhofe and Carson have a legitimate difference of opinion on the issue. Young says Inhofe doesn't think a buyout of residents living in the contaminated area of northeastern Oklahoma is the way to go.
Carson filed legislation in Washington yesterday requiring federal voluntary buyouts of residents in the area.
The legislation came one day after Inhofe proposed spending 45 (m) million dollars to clean up 46 square mile site.
The area was contaminated by years of lead and zinc mining.
