(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma agencies will receive about $34-million in federal housing grants.
Senator Don Nickles announced that the Oklahoma Department of Commerce will get $19,757,000 from the Community Development Block Grant Program.
The department will also get a $904,000 through the emergency shelter grant program.
The money from the block grants will be used to improve infrastructure and waste and water operations across the state.
The Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency will receive $12,796,000 and $514,000 will go to the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS program.
That program provides housing and support services for people living with HIV and AIDS.
Rural communities can apply for the grants through the Oklahoma Department of Commerce.
