TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ A state medical board has suspended the license of a doctor accused of having affairs with a patient and a receptionist.

Dr. Ambrose Solano, an internal medicine physician with Hillcrest HealthCare System, also was accused of flying across the country three times to have sex with women he met on the Internet, said Lyle Kelsey, executive director of the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure and Supervision.

Unlike the typical office romance between consenting adults, a doctor ethically cannot have an affair with a patient, Kelsey said Monday.

``The difference is the relationship between a doctor and patient,'' Kelsey said. ``It sets up certain responsibilities and trust issues. To overstep the boundaries misuses that trust.''

Solano has already attended a month-long treatment program in California, Kelsey said. Before he can start practicing medicine again, Solano must attend daily support groups for sex addicts for 90 days.

If he regains his license, Solano would remain on probation five years and attend two psychotherapy sessions by two separate counselors at least once a week for the five years, Kelsey said.

He would also report monthly to the board and meet with a compliance officer from the board, Kelsey said.

Solano formerly had privileges at Hillcrest Medical Center, Hillcrest Specialty Hospital and St. John Medical Center.

Hillcrest said Solano is not seeing patients.
