The Tulsa Area Red Cross launched its summer blood drive Tuesday with help from Tulsa's Mayor.
Mayor Bill Lafortune kicked off the drive by donating blood at Tulsa's Aaronson Auditorium. This was the first time the Mayor has given blood. He admitted he was a little nervous, but says there was nothing to it. "It feels fine - it's practically painless. And I would encourage every citizen to take advantage of this opportunity."
The Red Cross says there is always a critical need for blood - but the need is even greater in the summer. If you'd like to donate - you can call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE to make an appointment.
