ENID, Okla. (AP) _ The band director for Enid High School became ill and died on a trip to St. Louis with students performing in a jazz band festival.

The cause of death for Bob Costello, 56, was not immediately released. He died Saturday.

A Mass of Christian Burial was to be held for Costello at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Enid High School Auditorium.

Costello served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1968.

After serving in the military, he earned a bachelor's degree in music education from Phillips University in 1976, and a master's in education in 1982.

He directed a local drum and bugle corps from 1970 to 1980 and was band director at Waukomis from 1976 to 1980.

Costello also served as music director at his church and was director of the Oklahoma Music Ambassadors. He was also on the board of directors for Tri-State Music for several years.

Costello became band director at Enid High School in 1980.

He is survived by his wife, Kayle, and his three children: Debbie of San Diego, Dallas of Weatherford, and Nicole of Enid.
