A new retirement community has begun hiring its staff. That means dollars into people's pockets, and dollars into the Tulsa economy.

News on 6 reporter Rick Wells says as we hear more and more about American Airlines layoffs and Tulsa ballooning unemployment rate, a little good news Tuesday. Inverness Village a new retirement community in west Tulsa is hiring. They announced they have 165 jobs available.

Stacie Schnake the Human Resources Director says if you are unemployed or anticipate being unemployed you could be just what they are looking for. "Anyone who has any type of skills is welcome to apply. Because we will be looking at every application that comes in. And it may be that someone is in the need for a job change. We are going to have a wide range of positions out here."

But is it realistic say for an airline mechanic to apply? She said ‘yes’, because they will have a maintenance department and that airline mechanic might have other skills Inverness Village might be looking for. There are half a dozen or so categories of people they are looking for.

The first group they hire will begin working next month. To find out more, you can visit their web site at WWW.INVERNESSVILLAGE.COM

Inverness Village is a 190-acre planned community, located near the Oaks Country Club.
