(Wellington, Kansas-AP) -- Oklahomans driving Interstate 35 into Kansas will soon be paying a toll sooner than in the past.
The Kansas Turnpike plans to open a new south terminal Thursday, two miles closer to the Oklahoma border.
Kansas began building a new terminal at mile marker 17 past the Oklahoma border because of an increase in traffic.
Officials say more than 5-million vehicles drove through the terminal last year, up from fewer than 4-million in 1992.
Kansas turnpike officials say the current location of the terminal at mile marker 19 doesn't allow for expansion. The current location has two entry and four exit lanes, and the new one will have four entry and two exit lanes.
